Department Overview
Symantec Managed Services places resource-intensive IT operations under the management of experienced specialists so the company can optimize existing resources and focus on strategic IT projects. Delivered under strict service-level agreements (SLAs), Symantec Managed Services provides continuous expertise and value though a combination of onsite activities, on-call assistance, and remote monitoring. Enterprises benefit from increased operational efficiency, lower costs, and reduced exposure to IT risk.

Responsibilities
* Creative, yet methodical and structured, problem solver.
* Able to work in small, focused teams with multiple dependencies
* Able to own the problem - from needs to requirements, to architecture, to code, and testing (if needed)
* Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to software engineering practices which lead to sustainable / quality software: separation of concerns, modular design, thoughtful and appropriate error / fault management, reusability
* Excellent communications skills: able to handle complex functional and technical discussions - explain the root cause, identify alternatives, discuss advantages / disadvantages, formulate a technical solution approach, and share the approach with team members (justify if needed)
* Not afraid of ambiguity; able to structure an approach where unknowns are "boxed" without impacting the rest of the work
* Able to bring customer focus in everyday activities: can clearly see the customer impact if the code breaks
* Able to demonstrate persistence and commitment; 'failure is not an option'

Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent
* Experience 2+ years of relevant experience.
* Track record of specific application of his knowledge to resulting in project success.
* Track record of isolating issues at the component level.
* Strong written and spoken English with the with the ability to be clear and concise;
* Ability to work independently and adapt to an ever-changing environment;
* Good team player
* Ability to proactively assist peers and juniors to achieve development goals

Other Information
* Web development using ASP .NET
* Server side development using .NET framework: 1.1, 2.0. 3.5
* SQL Server 2005: query design, optimization, performance / tuning, database design & administration.
* Solid exposure to build / release / configuration management & automated deployment practices.
* Experience writing unit tests (knowledge of NUnit is helpful).
* Comfort with pair programming (when needed).
* Experience with "design by contract" software engineering techniques.
* Experience with data intensive and response time sensitive analytic applications or software
