* Project or Service Delivery - Accounts (in most instances to a Project, Support, or Programme Manager) for the production of deliverables according to agreed timescales, quality criteria, and budgets, to meet business objectives.
* Planning - Produces project plans and schedules. Plans the work of a small team or group to specified standards using appropriate tools
* Monitoring and Control - Monitors and reports on progress to appropriate managers, sponsors, and customers in accordance with reporting standards. Ensures that the project or service remains within the defined scope
* Risk and Issue Management - Diagnoses and evaluates potential risks and issues, highlights them to the appropriate manager, and executes plans to resolve them
* Quality and Change Control - Applies relevant technical and management standards, methodologies, and tools in an intelligent and effective way. Implements change control processes. Implements configuration management processes, and ensures that they are adhered to.
* Stakeholder Management - Identifies and manages relationships with all stakeholders including third parties. Acts as the primary point of contact where agreed with the Project, Support, or Programme Manager.
* People Management - Supports the project organisation by assigning roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities, prioritising tasks, and organising workflow. Manages third parties to ensure successful project execution.
Financial Management - Where appropriate, participates in establishing the scope and budget of the project or service.

Key deliverables

1. Ensures project or service scope and deliverables are defined and agreed with all relevant parties.
2. Undertakes a pro-active customer care programme ensuring the set-up and provision of an effective service or operation.

3. Ensures all project commitments are met, and monitors and reports on progress to Senior Project Manager, sponsor, and customer, as well as the Programme Support Office (PSO) in accordance with the reporting standards, ensuring the project remains within scope.
4. Diagnoses and evaluates potential risks and issues throughout the project. Reports regularly to the PSO and Senior Project Manager with regard to risks, and executes appropriate plans to contain them.
5. Acts as escalation point for problems and complaints, and manages compliance, contingency, and risk situations within own area of control.
6. Monitor and manage resources (staff, suppliers, and hardware & software) in a cost effective manner, identify opportunities for cost reduction, and action cost reduction initiatives
7. Management and allocation of project resource to the best benefit of the organization and projects
Scope of Role
* End to end accountability of given projects and related deliverables and adherence to group standard project management practice
* Keep all relevant system up to date as per group practices
* Timely and appropriate communication with business stakeholders on any risks / issues related to projects
* Respect and adherence to organization hierarchy to avoid any contradictory communications
* Adherence to group"s policies and best practices
* Act as Line Manager for junior Project Managers and Project Leaders

People Management
* Undertake the induction, coaching and line management of project managers or leaders assigned within the team
* Act as a mentor/coach for more junior colleagues from both Group Technology and the Business
* Ensure objectives and development plans are set and agreed for all staff
* Ability to matrix manage a multi-skilled project team in the region of 5-15

Relationship Management

 Establish and maintain effective relationships with the customer and key stakeholders, this may include 3rd Party Suppliers
Ensure that information relating to the programme is effectively, and regularly communicated
* Responsible for end to end management of project financials / budgetary forecasting
* Ability to establish and monitor project budgets typically atleast above £1m


Financial Management:
Financial Control

 Manage external vendors and vendor contracts
 Create and manage project budget in line with approved financial governance, undertaking appropriate accurate forecasting and control in line with RBS standards.

 Projects delivered in line with base-lined plan and changes effectively managed and controlled
 Projects follow KTR, weekly reports produced, milestone plans developed, base-lined and updated regularly.
 Project changes are documented and approved through PCC and PIB accordingly
 Evidence of risks and issues recorded in Prime, and mitigating actions managed, closed or escalated accordingly
 Projects closed down according to RBS standards

 Resourcing processes and escalation routes proactively followed
 Project team meetings established, held and actions recorded and monitored
 Clear direction provided to the team with respect to the project objective, scope and constraining factors.
 Effective use of reward and recognition

Essential:
* Will have a track record of delivery of IT projects for over two years
* Proven project management skills and ability to manage small teams
* Should have managed a project through the whole project life cycle or managed a significant work package within a major project
* Good problem identification and resolution abilities
* Able to take ownership of issues and tasks in order to see an appropriate resolution to them
* Good team player with a can do attitude, not afraid to offer help and assistance to others
* Ability to made sound decisions in a high pressure environment
